Being a Maestro Guitar ambassador, G7th the Capo Company’s supporting artist and having 8 years of teaching experience in music schools and privately, I feel extremely blessed to have found my calling and passion early on in life. I’ve had the pleasure of performing fingerstyle solo pieces on stage numerous times (alongside people like Adam Rafferty, Ben Kheng, Still Sunrise, HuiLu), playing for weddings, entering competitions (won Ngee Ann Got Talent) and have also done many professional recordings for companies such as Maestro Guitars, Swee Lee, Bernard Godfrey Guitars and Heirlooms Music. Other notable achievements: Performed and spoke at TEDx Youth Singapore 2013, the opening act for President’s Design Award 2014 at the Istana where I played for the President, Asia’s Got Talent quarter-finalist, more than 1.5million views on youtube and 8,000 subscribers. However, my greatest pride and deepest joy comes from watching my students grow and develop their own musical journey. It is about the moments when they discover something new, the moments when I close my eyes and listen to their playing, the moments when I look back and realize how far they’ve come.
Over the years I’ve taught kids, students, NSFs, working adults and retirees. I specialize in fingerstyle on the acoustic guitar and also playing by ear. I cannot read musical scores and I am mostly self-taught. I believe in playing by ear and try to move my students away from TABs as they progress. I listen and play a wide variety of genres from pop to jay chou to gospel to EDM. I show my students around guitar shops when they get their first guitars or when they want to get a new guitar (i don’t charge for this), and also gather them to watch guitar concerts.
